23rd July 2019
This morning I felt really fit. I woke up at 5.00 a.m. I got ready and at 5.30 a.m. I was already out to wait for breakfast.
Right out of the village, we went down the wadi following the Abraham path. While going up again, the road went on without difficulties. The most complicated parts have been those to reach the two villages on the top of the hills: endless and steep on the paved road.
At 1.30 p.m. we arrived in Taybeh, the only village in Palestine that is completely Christian. Jesus has been here with his disciples before returning to Jerusalem for the Holy Week. Here passed also Charles de Foucauld in his pilgrimage in the Holy Land. We are hosted by the Jerusalem Cross of the Latin Patriarchy.
We realize that the pilgrimage towards Jerusalem is close to the end: we only have three stages left but we know that they are the most important ones both physically and spiritually.
Tomorrow we will wake up at 4.30 a.m. to deal with the desert.
